Dr. Moritz von Rochow (University of Kiel, Germany) visits our Faculty to discuss Joint LL.M. Programme Development

The Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Gdańsk welcomed Dr. Moritz von Rochow from Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel for important working meetings on developing a joint LL.M. programme between our SEA-EU partner universities.

The visit represented a continuation of productive talks and working meetings between Dr. von Rochow and Prof. Marcin M. Wiszowaty, Vice Dean for International Cooperation and Development, focused on creating an innovative joint LL.M. programme to be run collaboratively by both Kiel and Gdansk as SEA-EU partners. The meeting in Vice Dean Wiszowaty's office included Dr. Magdalena Glanc-Zabiełowicz, Dean's Representative for International Cooperation and the Faculty's new Erasmus+ Coordinator.

The discussions proved highly fruitful, covering essential aspects of programme development including the preliminary curriculum structure, specific subjects and areas of law to be covered, detailed time schedules, and comprehensive logistic arrangements. Both universities demonstrated strong commitment to creating a programme that leverages the complementary strengths of both institutions while providing students with exceptional international legal education opportunities.

The collaborative programme represents an ambitious step forward in international legal education within the SEA-EU alliance framework. Partners are optimistic about launching this innovative joint LL.M. programme in Autumn 2026, pending final approvals and administrative arrangements. The programme will offer students unique opportunities to study at both institutions while earning a jointly awarded degree.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Dr. von Rochow for the very interesting talks and his excellent ideas on programme development. His expertise and collaborative approach have been instrumental in advancing this important initiative. The partnership between Gdansk and Kiel, both located by the Baltic Sea, represents a natural and strong collaboration that builds on geographical proximity, shared academic values, and complementary legal traditions.

This joint LL.M. programme initiative exemplifies our hope for continuing to develop, expand, and strengthen cooperation between our institutions. Through the SEA-EU alliance framework, we are creating innovative educational opportunities that will benefit students from across Europe while advancing international legal scholarship and practice.

The University of Kiel's partnership through SEA-EU provides an excellent foundation for this ambitious collaborative programme, and we look forward to further developing this exciting initiative in the coming months.
